John’s journey in the automotive industry began with a high school auto tech program, leading him to earn an associate’s degree in automotive technology. He found his passion in his mid-20s, and his transition to a leadership role was a natural evolution. Starting as a “quality and training foreman,” John gradually took on more managerial responsibilities, culminating in his current full-time position.

A key part of John’s philosophy is the distinction between training and mentorship. While training involves teaching specific tasks like a brake job, mentorship is about guiding a person through their career, offering encouragement and support. He believes in investing in technicians who show a willingness to grow, celebrating their progress, and reminding them of how far they have come.

John’s leadership style is built on respectful communication, a lesson he learned from his service director, Keith. He lives by the advice to “always approach someone as a gentleman,” which helps him navigate challenging situations with diplomacy. This professional respect extends to the personal connections he forges with his colleagues, as he recognizes that work-life balance and personal well-being are intrinsically linked to professional success.
